How I came to know about this book:

An event was carried out at the Himalayan Writing Retreat FDC Whatsapp Group where authors read and commented on others' books. I had chosen this one for reading at that time.

What the book is about :

"Lost Edges" unfolds a poignant tale revolving around Ravi and Geethanjali, who start their journey in college, fall in love, and eventually find themselves seeking therapy to mend the fractures in their marriage.

What I have loved about the book :

The novel deftly navigates between the past and present, skillfully merging the two to create a comprehensive narrative. The editing is crisp, and the narration, particularly in certain places, is commendable, maintaining the reader's interest throughout the unfolding drama.

The central theme of the story, exploring the challenges faced by modern couples in balancing work and relationships, resonates with the experiences of many adults today. Vineeth captures the nuances of this struggle, providing readers with relatable scenarios that reflect the complexities of contemporary relationships.

What I felt could have been better :

The characters in "Lost Edges" appear somewhat one-dimensional, lacking the depth that would ground them in reality. This tendency makes them more melodramatic and less relatable to readers seeking well-rounded, authentic portrayals. While the plot is engaging, the characters might have benefited from more nuanced development.

The ending left something to be desired for me. The resolution, whether the characters unite or separate, felt overly cinematic and, a tad disappointing. A more impactful and realistic conclusion could have elevated the emotional resonance of the novel. Ravi's character, while initially seeming a bit peculiar with his habit of interpreting everything in terms of colour, gains some understanding when considering his passion for painting.

Despite the well-established love between Ravi and Geethanjali, the 90’s hopeless romantic me, finds yearning for more palpable chemistry between the characters. The portrayal of their relationship, while consistent in expressing their love, may have benefited from additional moments of connection to truly bring their bond to life.

Why one should read or not read this book:

"Lost Edges" by Salini Vineeth is a compelling exploration of love, loss, and the journey towards healing. Providing an uncommon and profound outlook on the complexities of human relationships, this book proves to be a captivating choice for readers in search of a narrative that deeply resonates on an emotional level.
