How I came to know about this book:
Saugata and I have been part of the same author groups and were both pitched by the same literary agency. When his book was released, the captivating cover instantly caught my eye, and I couldn’t resist buying it right away. Though it had been sitting on my TBR since its release in 2024, I’m glad I finally got around to reading it.
What the book is about :
Mostly Mundane by Saugata Chakraborty is a charming collection of 19 light-hearted short stories that revolve around the amusing life of Mr. Shantilal Biswas. With wit and a touch of sarcasm, the author beautifully captures everyday situations, whether in the office, at home, or with friends, turning them into delightful slices of humor.
What I have loved about the book :
What stands out is the relatability of the stories, infused with clever observations about life’s quirks. The writing style is superb, with a sharp choice of words that enhances the humor. Mr. Shantilal Biswas feels like someone we all know—a humorous reflection of our own mundane lives. While he’s undoubtedly the star, I must confess that his son, Monty, is my favorite character. Monty brings a refreshing dose of youthful charm and mischief to the stories, making them even more enjoyable.
What I felt could have been better :
A few stories felt stretched or lacked proper plot buildup, which could have been improved to make the collection even more engaging. Also, some stories felt too short to end before one could involve in them.
Why one should read or not read this book:
Mostly Mundane is an excellent pick for readers seeking a quick escape filled with light humor. Its short stories are perfect for reading on the go, offering bursts of laughter and relatable moments that brighten the most ordinary days.

Comedy is one of the genres that I read very little normally. What is the least picked up genre for you? Do mention in comments.
